Hey there! Welcome back to ‘The Confessions of a Random Blogger!’
Someone that I’m extremely close to loves to write poetry. However, they simply don’t like having to deal with the pressure of having their name attached to their pieces. So every month or so, I publish a couple of their poems here.

‘Senescence’
Like a good wine fermenting in an old wooden beaten barrel,
Like the edges of a well worn book, the tattering of its pages…
With its dog ears on the cover-look.
My fingertips don’t turn the pages as quickly as before…
They stick together like an ancient shipwreck,
Rusted protrudings,
Like a raincoat beaten by a weather.
I need to blink more often; as the world appears slightly out of focus,
I have walked my path, followed my directions and finally found my locus.
My pieces don’t fit into the puzzle just ax well as they used to…
Is this old age? Or are my mind and soul simply tired?
‘Surveillance’
Beware! This establishment is under surveillance!
Your actions and words will be recorded;
And they may or may not be used against you in a court of law.
No close dances, just rock and roll.
Sorry: roll and rock!
Come back into the house early;
Before the rooster’s on the clock!
No smoking, no drinking,
Only prescribed doctor’s drugs, no blinking!
You have to dress in a certain way,
A small breeze will make a short skirt sway.
No phone calls with a boy,
Decent girls never need to be coy.
After you have done your chores,
Do the homework, vent away the bores,
There’s nothing in excess, please empty your plate,
Go to sleep early, you can’t be up this late.
Beware! This establishment is under surveillance…!
