borrowed poems from an anonymous- part 4

Welcome back to “The Confessions of a Random Blogger!”

So for the past couple of months, a certain person; who wants to stay anonymous; has asked me to publish some of their poetry on this blog! They are an absolutely amazing writer, but they simply don’t want the emotional strain that comes with having their name attached to their work- which is obviously completely understandable.

This is a monthly series where I post a few of the poems that they’ve decided to share with us! This series will continue as long as they continue writing!

You can check out the other 3 instalments of this series here:

Let’s get started! In honour of Valentine’s Day, which hangs over most of our heads like a looming sword; the poems that I’ll be posting today each have something to do with love.

Aw our anonymous writer is in love! Oh no- was that a clue?

‘Lost For All Of Valentime’

I lost my heart on Valentine,

Cupid played his part on time.

An arrow touched your heart of gold,

Binding us in mind and soul.

I lost my heart on Valentine,

Though both our efforts did combine.

To create a web of love so strong,

Nothing else could be in the wrong.

In spite of sharing different tastes,

No point; to put ourselves to waste.

Though; perhaps our views were too abstract,

For it’s not always that opposites attract.

Therefore destiny has something else to say,

And now we’re each our own separate way.

I lost my heart on Valentine,

Cupid aimed it wrong this time!

I guess that the power of love is not enough,

To fill the gaps of understanding.

Perhaps is nothing but a bluff,

For emotions of greater standing.

TO Sacrifice

Love is nothing but to sacrifice,

One without a face,

The truth behind those eyes.

Love is nothing but to sacrifice,

The laughter on their lips…

Those whispers without a sigh.

Love is nothing but to sacrifice,

Walking blindly to an unknown place,

Trusting completely never a doubt in trace.

Love is nothing but to sacrifice,

To give of oneself wholly,

To hope, not to expect, to take the first step.

To care, and to respect.

Love is nothing but to sacrifice,

To accept all the happiness, to reciprocate,

In kind, including all those habits…

That weren’t always so nice,

The shortcomings, the faults, are a very small price.

Love is nothing but to sacrifice,

Something difficult to define,

Perhaps love is not so precise,

There are no rules to follow…

Sometimes a fall, sometimes a rise.

For that is what love is all about.

Nothing but a sacrifice!
